Outdoor Fossil Fuel

The outdoor recreation economy is massive. It's larger than the pharmaceutical, forestry or agricultural industries and brings in almost as much money into the Canadian economy as fossil fuels. Snowsports play a huge role in that.

Losing ski days

By the 2050s, if we don’t reduce our emissions, snow seasons in Canada are projected to be shortened by up to 25 days.

Losing money

The outdoor industry has lost more than $5 billion over the past two decades due to climate change.

Snow is a natural resource it’s time we treat it like one

Snowsports contribute over $9.136 billion to our economy and up to 90,000 direct jobs across Canada. We need to protect snow.

To take action, Canada must do its part and meet its international commitments under the Paris Climate Agreement. We must:

#1. Invest in transformational net-zero innovation and technology

#2. Create a clear and open runway for renewable energy

#3. Protect 30% of land and water by 2030
